I'm Denise, a Virtual Personal Assistant based in the outskirts of Birmingham. I have over 25 years' combined experience in both the private and public sectors, including as a secretary at a firm of Forensic Consulting Engineers. My job there involved, amongst many other things, audio typing reports to be used for litigation, liaising with Solicitors and Insurance Companies, and making sure the busy team of Engineers were in the right place at the right time.
After being a stay-at-home mom while my two children were little, I volunteered as a parent helper in their primary school before bagging a job as PA to the Deputy. The role was extremely varied, ranging from the usual admin tasks to organising the school diary, administering first aid, monitoring attendance and arranging school events, plus so much more in between! I honed my minute-taking skills at meetings of the Senior Leadership Team; as secretary of the PTA, and also as Clerk to Governors (Governance Professional).
I loved being a PA but I also wanted to be my own boss. After a lot of research and a big leap of faith I quit my job at school and started my Virtual PA business. I'm enjoying using the many skills I've developed over the years plus I'm learning new ones all the time.
I love to be helpful, resourceful and supportive - for me, those are the best bits about being a PA.
